1. Who we are

Little Hero Stories (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at littleherostories.com. We provide an AI-powered platform for creating personalized children's stories. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@littleherostories.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password.

Story creation inputs: When you create a story, you provide your child's first name, age, and optionally their interests and a story theme. We store these to generate and save your stories.

Generated content: We store the stories and illustrations we generate so you can access them from your dashboard.

Usage data: We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and to improve the service. We do not use cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising cookies.

3. How we use your information

  • To create, store, and display your personalized stories
  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • To respond to your support requests
  • To improve the quality of our story and illustration generation
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Little Hero Stories is designed to be used by parents and guardians on behalf of children under 13. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts directly.

We collect a child's first name and age only, entered by the parent, solely to personalize the story. We do not collect the child's surname, school, location, or any contact information.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at hello@littleherostories.com and we will delete it promptly.

5. Optional child photo

When creating a story, you may optionally upload a photo of your child. This feature is entirely voluntary and is used for one purpose only: to make the story's illustrations visually match your child — matching hair color, eye color, skin tone, and other features to the illustrated character.

Here is exactly how it works:

  • The photo is sent to our AI model (Google Gemini), which reads the image and extracts a short text description of the child's appearance (e.g. “curly brown hair, blue eyes, light skin”).
  • That text description is saved with your story so that character consistency is maintained across all illustrations.
  • The photo and description are never used to identify or profile the child, never shared with third parties for marketing, and never used to train Our AI models.

Stories created without a photo receive a fictional character appearance that remains consistent throughout the illustrations. The optional photo feature only exists to give parents the choice of a closer visual match.

6. Data sharing

We share data only with the following categories of processors, strictly for operating the service:

  • Supabase — database and authentication hosting
  • Google (Gemini API) — AI story text generation
  • OpenAI — AI illustration generation
  • Vercel — application hosting

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party. Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data and stories for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by emailing hello@littleherostories.com, after which we will delete your data within 30 days.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@littleherostories.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
